Subjects
The EDGE Center provides remedial or enrichment tutoring for students in grades 5-12. Every student is evaluated in basic reading and math literacy to get an idea of the baseline where the student is operating. If a student is behind grade level in either reading or math, extra concentration is put into those skills prior to focusing solely on subject-related concepts. Subjects tutored include (but are not limited to):
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Social Studies (including Economics and Participation in Government)
- Science
- French
- Spanish
- Reading
- Writing
- Text-based courses in the fine and performing arts
We also tutor students studying for the GED exam. Tutoring for college-level students may be arranged.
Schedule or Frequency
Tutoring at The EDGE Center is not sitting with your student while he or she completes homework.
Each tutoring session is full of reteaching information learned in school in a different manner or introducing
upcoming concepts to give the student a firmer base. Best results are possible when tutoring occurs for at least
1 hour per day, 2 or 3 days each week.
We recommend re-evaluating the effectiveness of the tutoring experience every 10 weeks.
Fees
The EDGE Center strives to make tutoring available and affordable for all students. The basic fee is $25.00 per hour. However, we work on a sliding scale based on free-/reduced-lunch eligibility. Simply bring us the verification/notification letter from your school district (or current WIC voucher), and the sliding-scale fee will be established.
